Day 1: Trekking and Cultural Tour
Trekking Balaa Hill
Climb to the top of the Rift Valley wall for breath-taking views of Lake Manyara, the village of Mto wa Mbu and the Maasai Steppe beyond. You will also see a diverse display of local bird species and magnificent 2,000 year old baobab trees.
Maasai Boma Visit
Visit a Maasai boma and learn the lifestyle of this famous in East Africa. Beside the guided tour of the masai boma, the introduction to the local Masai people, the tribesmen will offer to paint traditional Masai tattoos for visitors and even let them milk their prized cows.
Day 2: Masai Market and Village Walk
Maasai Market tour
Hundred of Masai gather each Thursday afternoon at the bustling Masai market, where visitors have the chance to see their crafts and taste their food, including the famous Masai BBQ. A larger, village-wide market occurs on the 22nd of each month.
Village walk
Get an inside look at the homes and exquisite crafts of Mto wa Mbu’s many tribes. Visitors will get a chance to meet locals and learn about banana beer, Makonde woodcarvings, and the tribal painting techniques; the village provides a great introduction to everyday life in Africa.
Day 3: Farm and Miwaleni Waterfall and Lake Tour
Farm tour
Observe the innovative farming practices of Mto wa Mbu farmers and find out the irrigation scheme that maintain the crops of the local residents including the diverse varieties of bananas.
Miwaleni Waterfall and Lake Tour
Visit to this remarkable lake and waterfall, both creased with flourishing papyrus plants. Leopards and Hippos visit frequent the area, although during the day, guests can swim in the inspirational pool beneath the falls.
Day 4: Biking to Lake Manyara
Biking to Lake Manyara
Bike to the coast of Lake Manyara and get an astonishing chance to view wildlife like zebras, giraffes, hippos and water buffaloes at near range in the corridor of migration between the national parks.
Mountain bikes can be rented at the office.
Lunch at Moma’s
Enjoy a luscious home-cooked meal in a local Moma’s home. Over lunch, the guide will provide a history of region and many local tribes.
